What is FSC Certification?

The global standard for responsible forest management

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is the most recognized certification system for responsible forest management worldwide. Founded in 1993, FSC sets standards for forests and wood products that are environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable.

FSC History and Mission

FSC was founded following the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, as a response to global concerns about deforestation. The organization brings together businesses, environmental NGOs, indigenous communities, and other stakeholders to develop responsible forest management standards.

  • Presence in over 80 countries

Types of FSC Labels

There are three main types of FSC labels, each with different significance:

FSC 100%

The product contains exclusively materials from FSC certified forests. This is the highest level of certification and guarantees complete traceability.

FSC Mix

The product contains a mixture of materials from FSC certified forests, controlled sources, and/or recycled materials. Minimum 70% must come from certified or recycled sources.

FSC Recycled

The product contains 100% recycled materials (post-consumer or pre-consumer). Ideal for products promoting circular economy.
